Achievement, Challenge, Environment and Stewardship 10 (ACES 10) is an integrated, experiential program run at Wood Street Centre. Students spend time learning in diverse settings including the classroom, urban, and wild spaces.
ACES integrates 4 courses taught with the BC curriculum: Social Studies 10, Science 10, Physical Education 10 and Climate Change 10. Climate change is a theme connecting our experiences and course work. Students will learn about mechanisms and environmental impacts of climate change, how our political systems are able and unable to address climate change, and how social justice and climate change are interconnected.
A unique aspect of ACES is our time spent on the land away from a physical school. We spend up to 24 days on overnight trips using snowshoeing, skiing, cycling and canoeing to travel.
